About

Tony Bero is a husband, father, pianist, guitarist, vocalist, and teacher who has lived and worked in northern Michigan since 2000. Tony is a whirlwind of musical energy who makes a career out of juggling many special musical projects. The jewel in his creative crown is his role as a private piano instructor of 30 students ranging in age from seven to eighty. Bero’s students have gone on to study music at Central Michigan University, Northern Michigan University, Interlochen Arts Academy, Interlochen Arts Camp, and Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp.

Bero has also spent the last eight years as choir/music director at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Suttons Bay, MI. Beginning in 2017, Tony spent four and a half years as producer of Kids Commute from Interlochen Public Radio. Together with host Kate Botello, he won back to back bronze awards in 2018 and 2019 from the New York Festivals Radio Awards in the category, ‘Best Children/Young Adult Program.’

But wait, there’s more! In 2013, Bero co-founded Mashup Rock & Roll Musical with his wife and creative partner, Lesley Tye. Out to prove to northern Michigan and the world that the Tye/Bero team is an unstoppable creative force, they have produced ten original productions, two web series, two Queer Cabarets, and even managed to produce two Covid-safe parking lot musicals, Scooby Doo-Wop and Scooby Doo-Wop Two-Wop before theaters opened up to the public again.
